2020 Fall Fashion Trends

It’s finally September!!! I am beyond excited! Not just because my birthday is a few days away.... and I am hoping my husband gets me that Cricut Machine that’s on my wish list...but because it’s closer to fall. My most favorite time of the year!!!

I have such fond memories of the time spent in Connecticut during my elementary school years. Fall not only brought cooler weather, but I loved visiting the pumpkin patches, going on hay rides, sitting around camp fires, trick-or-treating, and oh, the beautiful colors of fall leaves! There is just something simply magical about fall in New England.

Now that I am older, I still love those things, but now I look forward to the rest of what fall brings...FALL FASHION! I can’t wait to break out the snuggly sweaters, cute hats with matching scarves, and last but not least...boots! Ankle boots, over the knee boots, boots with faux fur trim, riding boots, laced boots, buckle boots; I don’t care. I love them all!

However, some of my favorite fashion trends for 2020 are the jewel tones colors along with deep golden marigold that has replaced the mustard color of last season. Making a come back as well is bold red. Also, metallics appear to be very popular this season and I am all about some shine and bling. And nothing makes a statement like some fun 70's fringe that also seems to be coming back into style!

The fashion trend I am happiest to see is the faux furs and leathers. As an animal lover, I personally will never support “factory farmed” animals that are subjected to abuse, cruelty and inhumane treatment for the sake of fashion. Those that aren’t raised specifically for their fur or hides are being poached to extinction. As consumers, we should push the fashion industry for change by demanding alternatives such as grape-derived leather, cork, soy-based “vegetable cashmere”, fleece created from recycled plastics and many other sustainable natural and synthetic fibers that can be used in place of animal hides and fur.

Here at My Pink Penguin, we do not use fur and only use faux leather in our products. When shopping this season, keep in mind that designers such as Gucci, Michael Kors, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Stella McCartney don’t use fur in their collections, and stores such as J.Crew, Gap Inc., Express, and Ann Taylor do not sell fur items.

Join the conversation! What is your favorite thing about fall? What fashion trend are you most excited about? Or not excited about? I’d love to hear from you!
